AMEX True Cashback
If you’ve already committed to a gym and have been exercising regularly, there are still other benefits with which you can reap from a credit card. Cashback is perhaps the way to go, but as we know, most cashback cards available here are tied down to a certain category of spend, and there’s definitely not one category that says “sports-related spending”. However, you can still get some cash rebates with the AMEX True cashback card, because you qualify for 3% cashback on the first $5,000 you spend in the first 6 months, and continue to get a 1.5% rebate on any amount of spend with no cap!
So assuming your gym membership fees cost you $200 per month, you’d still save $36 per year just by using this card to pay for your membership every month.
Maybank Family & Friends Card
This is a cashback credit card that offers you and your family some 8% cash rebate on daily essentials in Singapore and Malaysia, on top of merchant’s discount. We don’t know what you think but 8% rebate is quite a good deal compared to most other cards available here!
Categories that are entitled to the 8% rebate includes major supermarket brands here like Cold Storage, NTUC Fairprice nd even hypermarts in Malaysia like AEON BIG, Giant and Tesco. If you are one of those who loves to go to Johor Bahru for your grocery shopping once a month, this will make a great card for you.
Aside of grocery spending, other rebates you get include bus and train rides, food delivery services, as well as spending in pharmacies like Watsons’ Unity Healthcare and Guardian. So for the health-conscious and active individuals who spend their money on vitamins and supplements regularly, this is a great card to have.
In order to get the full 8% rebate, you’d need to spend at least $1,000 a month though, but if spending a minimum of $300 will still earn you 5% rebate. But don’t worry, you’d still get an unlimited 0.3% cash rebates on all other purchases.
