We know its no secret that you can easily get a fee waiver with some credit cards in Singapore, you just need to call the bank’s helpline and request for it through their automated customer service, without even speaking to a real person! Some of us do this every year, while others might have their card fees waived for years until they found a sneaky charge in their account.
So you probably end up paying for the card fee, or it forces you to re-evaluate whether the card is worth it at all. To help with this unpleasant scenario, we’ve listed some of the best cards that don’t charge fees or offer at least two years fee waiver and still come with great perks!
HSBC Visa Advance Card
The HSBC Advance Visa credit card is a great cash back and rewards card that lets you earn accelerated rewards, whats more they offer perpetual annual fee waiver on your HSBC Advance primary and supplementary credit cards (if you’re a Advance banking customer). For customers without an Advance Banking Relationship, the annual fee is waived for the first year from the date the HSBC Advance credit card is issued. To qualify for the subsequent annual fee waiver, a minimum annual spending of S$12,500 must be made on your HSBC Advance credit card account.
With no minimum spend required, you will now enjoy up to 3.5% Cash Back on all your purchases. Plus, enjoy up to an additional 16% instant petrol discount and enjoy 15% off dining bill and other deals
In order to be eligible for this card you must be at least 21 years of age. For Singaporeans and Permanent Residents, a minimum annual income of S$30,000 is required.
For foreigners, a minimum annual income of S$40,000 is required and If you do not meet the above income requirements, a minimum Fixed Deposit Collateral of S$10,000 is required. For HSBC Advance Banking you must have a salary crediting or re-occurring deposit of at least S$3,500 per month AND have applied for or hold a HSBC credit card.
Its worth mentioning however that spend exclusions apply and Cash Back is capped at S$70 monthly. For HSBC Advance banking customers, Cash Back is capped at S$125 monthly or $1,500 a year.
OCBC 365 Credit Card
The OCBC 365 credit card offer 365 days of cash back and with 2 years annual fee waiver, you are safe for a while! But like most Cashback cards the amount you can earn is capped at S$80 per calendar month. However you can quickly reach this cap, with 6% back on weekend dining locally, 3% cash back on all your purchases on travel, fashion, movie tickets, Grab/Uber rides and more!
Whats more cardholders enjoy complimentary travel insurance of up to $200,000. Simply charge your return air tickets to your OCBC 365 Card and you will get up to S$200,000 complimentary Travel Personal Accident Insurance and up to S$400 coverage for Baggage Loss (more than 48 hours).
To be eligible for the card, you must be 21 and above and earn S$30,000 and above for Singaporeans and Singapore PRs or S$45,000 and above for foreigners.
The card fee is $192.60 a year (First 2 years free) and to earn an annual fee waiver for your OCBC 365 Credit Card, you must spend a minimum of at least S$10,000 in one year, starting from the month after your OCBC 365 Credit Card was issued.

Applicants must be 21 years old and above. For Singaporeans and PRs, minimum annual income of $30,000 and for foreigners, minimum annual income to qualify is $42,000.
